Weitzman was in Haiti during the viral outbreak, running the CDC's relief effort. He sent Cassandra home after she grew increasingly paranoid and seemed to have a breakdown. Later he told her that the outbreak was caused by a well-known virus and was under control, and told her to take time off to recover from her kidnapping.
Weitzman told Cassandra that Henri Toussaint had been shot by persons unknown. He offered her a job at the CDC, an offer which she later accepted.
